I'm so excited to share a recent career milestone — I was invited to speak at GIA London on Wednesday, 25th June, to talk about my journey in the jewellery industry and how Instagram has helped me grow, connect, and open incredible doors over the years.

GIA has always been my favourite gemmological organisation. Standing in front of their students, sharing my story (with 85 slides, might I add!) was a surreal and unforgettable experience. I was supposed to speak for an hour, but let’s just say I had a lot to share! 😅
A Warm Welcome
A huge thank you to the amazing team at GIA for the invitation. Special thanks to Talitha from The Cut Jewellery https://thecutjewellery.com.au/ and Tracey, aka The Diamonds Girl https://www.thediamondsgirl.net/, for taking the time to record brilliant advice videos for the students. Your contributions truly enhanced the event!
Reflecting on My Journey
Sharing my journey in the jewellery industry was an emotional experience. It allowed me to reflect on how far I've come. I discussed the challenges I've faced and the lessons I've learned along the way. Each experience has shaped my passion for this field.
Through my years in the industry, social media, especially Instagram, played a crucial role. Today, platforms like these are essential for connecting with others and showcasing our work. By sharing my creative process online, I’ve built a community of like-minded individuals.

Making Connections
Networking played a vital role during my presentation and beyond. It's essential to connect with fellow professionals. In our industry, sharing knowledge is crucial for growth. I encourage all students to reach out, ask questions, and create connections.
Moreover, I’d like to emphasize that everyone has something valuable to offer. Don't underestimate your own experiences. Information sharing fosters a collaborative environment where we can all thrive.
Advice for Future Speakers
As my journey at GIA wraps up, I find myself reflecting on what I could improve. Maybe I should limit the slide count next time or even bring snacks for the audience! Engaging an audience is a skill, and every experience prepares you for the next.
Wishing all the students the very best in their careers. If anyone ever needs advice or support, I'm always happy to help.
Thanks for reading,
Dimitri
