Presidium Gem Computer Gauge! Everything you need to know - Review

Updated: Oct 28, 2022

Welcome to my first official review of Presidium Instruments since the announcement of our collaboration in early May 2022. (LINK TO BLOG)

I’ve been using the Presidium Gem Computer Gauge tool since January 2021. I purchased it when I was towards the end of my study with the GIA - Diamond & Diamond Grading Diploma 2021. I used an affordable alternative gauge that did the job, but it was missing accuracy, and I couldn’t measure mounted stones. After extensive research (I research a lot before purchasing something), one company kept popping up on top of the search pages—the Presidium Instruments Pte. After purchasing the tool and quickly testing it on a few of my GIA Graded Diamonds, the measurements were as accurate as they could be.

What is the Presidium Gem Computer Gauge tool used for?

Presidium Gem Computer Gauge measures the dimensions and estimates the weight of loose and mounted gemstones with precision, speed, and ease.

Features:

  • Measures from 0.0 to 25.0mm

  • Accuracy: 0.01mm / Tolerance: 0.02mm

  • Digital millimetre/carat display

  • Automatically shut off when idle for 10 minutes

  • Auto-magnetic shut-off when placed in carrying case

  • Computer interface display with USB connectivity

  • Attachment for high setting jewellery provided

  • Specific Gravity (S.G.) dictionary for quick and easy reference included

I’ve been working with an independent jeweller for a few years, and I use the gauge daily. From measuring a client’s diamond; to checking the width of a wedding band, you can use the Gem Gauge on pretty much anything up to the width of 25.00 mm.
